While growing in Vermont up my family had a small maple sugaring operation. Every year at the start of spring my father, brother and I would tap sugar maple trees around our property, collect the sap and boil it in our sugar house until it became maple syrup. Once my brother and I got older, we stopped sugaring and our little sugar shack was abandoned until I repurposed it and made it into a small forge and shop. This was my first shop and where the name for my shop originates.
Over the past couple of years I have had some major life changes. I went to graduate school at Michigan Tech and earned my Masters of Forestry and settled in Traverse City, Michigan. I have a small shop set up here where I continue to produce hand made goods and grind racing axes.
I value quality, durability and aesthetics in my work. Each knife, tool, axe or piece that I create is designed to last for generations.
